Our Hospital

 

Howell Avenue Pet Hospital (HAPH) is a 3-doctor, private/family owned business located in the heart of the Clifton “Gaslight District”.  We specialize in preventative, therapeutic, and curative medicine for cats and dogs, as well as provide routine wellness, surgical, and dental services.

Each of our staff departments play an integral role in maintaining the functionality of our hospital, and ensuring we provide top-notch care.  We have five departments: client service representatives, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, our practice manager, and our doctors.  Each department helps each other – team work, trust, and communication are key.  Through degree and certification programs, continuing education, and a plethora of daily learning opportunities, our staff strive to possess all the knowledge and skills required to provide the best possible care for our patients.  We are so proud of each of our staff members, and are so happy they are on the HAPH team.  Go to our “Meet the Staff” tab to learn more. 

Our client service representatives (CSR’s) are the communication bridge between clients and the hospital.  They are happy to assist you over the phone or in person to schedule an appointment, refill medications, or help you get answers to any questions you may have regarding our services and your pet’s care.

Our veterinary technicians, or “vet techs” work under the direct supervision of our veterinarians.  They administer vaccinations, collect specimens and perform laboratory procedures, provide specialized nursing care, prepare animals, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures, monitor patients under anesthesia and assist veterinarians during anesthetic/surgical procedures, perform x-rays, run our in-hospital pharmacy, and perform dental prophylaxes.  They also assist in pet owner education and field all kinds of questions and phone calls.  

Our veterinary assistants do just that – they assist everyone in the hospital from the veterinarians, vet techs, CSR’s, patients, and clients.  They receive specialized training to learn how to safely and securely hold animals during exams, vaccinations, nail trims, blood draws, and everything in between.  Our vet assistants also escort animals to different areas of the hospital as needed, provide comfort to a pet during their appointment or hospitalization, and keep the hospital building and grounds clean and organized.  

Our practice manager wears many hats!  From helping run the front desk and back of house, ordering supplies, accounting, human resources and public relations, technical support, building maintenance, and most importantly, client services and patient care – our practice manager is here to do it all.  If you ever have any questions about our hospital, our services, your pet’s visit, a bill, etc, feel free to call and ask to speak with Practice Manager Erin!

Lastly, our veterinarians are at the heart of it all; They have dedicated their lives to animal care.  From wellness visits to complicated surgical procedures, and everything in between, they are here diagnose, treat, and support all of our patients and their owners through any situation.  Howell Avenue Pet Hospital is very proud to have three of the very best veterinarians whose goal is to care for every patient as if they were their own pet.
